Q: How can containers maintain real-time visibility in regions with limited connectivity, such as certain spots on Asia-Europe rail routes?

A: Current IoT technology supports multi-mode communication, enabling continuous, real-time collection of data such as location and status even in areas with weak signals. Our IBOX products family are equipped with this capability. Even if the signal is temporarily lost, the system can store data offline, ensuring no information is lost.

Q: What are the biggest challenges for cross-border transportation of temperature-controlled goods?

A: In my view, one challenge lies in the handover process during cross-border transport. For example, at Alashankou, an important handover hub, issues may arise such as reefers not being properly reconnected to power, which can cause temperature deviations. Another challenge is that inspections during transit still rely heavily on manual checks. These are carried out at intervals, and with a large number of containers, oversights can easily occur.

Q: How is AI already being implemented in container shipping, and are there potential future use cases?

A: Taking our products as an example, AI is already enabling functions such as smart pre-trip inspection of reefer conditions, ETA prediction, and detection of heat-sensitive loading. We believe its potential goes much further. For example, in cross-border trade, where customs policies often change or unexpected disruptions occur—such as the recent Red Sea crisis—AI could provide early warnings, suggest alternative options, and even coordinate resources across different modes of transport.

Q: What will you discuss during your session at Intermodal Europe?

A: We will begin with the current development of the China–Europe trade corridor and discuss how smart containers add value by enhancing cross-border transport efficiency. The focus will be on how the IBOX product family delivers multi-scenario solutions to the industry through data empowerment.
